June 21st, 2018 Tracy Posted in Parks, Pets, White Center news Comments Off on Going to a county park? Keep your dog leashed!
From King County Parks:
King County Parks and the King County Sheriff’s Office are joining forces to ensure the continued safety of all visitors to the County’s vast network of parks, trails, and open space.
Sheriff’s deputies are now patrolling parks, including those with natural surface trail networks like Cougar Mountain Regional Wildlife Park, as well as regional trails like the Sammamish River Trail, to emphasize compliance with leash laws.
Per King County Code 7.12.410, dogs must be on-leash in all park and trail facilities, unless in a designated off-leash area. Deputies will issue citations to violators.
Especially during these busy summertime months, it is important for dogs to be on leash when visiting parks and trails. Not only does it reduce potential injury to your best four-legged friend from unexpected encounters with wildlife or other dogs, but it also decreases the likelihood that your dog will ingest plants or berries that could make it sick.
Dog owners are encouraged to visit King County’s Marymoor Park, which features a 40-acre off-leash dog area that consistently ranks as one of the region’s best, and additional off-leash areas can be found in parks throughout Seattle and surrounding cities.
By following this simple rule, all park and trail visitors can have enjoyable experiences, whether they have two legs or four.

Another new White Center business – Cascade Heights Veterinary Center:
Cascade Heights Veterinary Center has officially opened its doors to the South Seattle community. The clinic is located next to the Hung Long Asian Market and across from Big Al Brewing. The owner and primary veterinarian, Dr. Kathleen Paulson, has been practicing medicine for almost ten years – the last four of which have been under the mentorship of Dr. Timothy Kraabel and Dr. Elizabeth Fritzler at Lien Animal Clinic in West Seattle.
Dr. Paulson says, “From the age of 8, my dream was to be a veterinarian. Now that I have achieved that goal, my dream is to help as many pet patients and their families as I can. Opening a practice in such a wonderfully diverse and growing community is an amazing opportunity and one I take great pride in.”
Cascade Heights Veterinary Center is open six days a week, and is equipped to provide high quality medicine to dogs, cats, and small furry mammals. Designated dog and cat waiting areas help ease stress for you and your four-legged family members.
The address is 9832 15th SW.

October 1st, 2014 Tracy Posted in Pets, White Center news Comments Off on Have you seen Dooley the dog?
Courtney is hoping you can help find Dooley the dog:
My dog Dooley got out of my yard on Tuesday around 6 pm. 1400 block SW 114th St., between 14th and 15th, a block from the McDonald’s on 16th. He is a miniature Australian shepherd dachshund mix. 8 yrs old 17 lbs. He needs pain pills for a shoulder injury. Has a limp, left front leg. Sometimes it’s little, and sometimes it’s worse. I’ve called all the vets and shelters in the area. My friends went door to door all around to ask around. Any help would be amazing. Thank you. 206-446-4059

From the inbox: “I found this little guy wandering around White Center at 107th and 18th Ave SW
yesterday evening about 8:00 p.m. I took him to the vet and he isn’t chipped. He looks like a possible mix between a Basset Hound, Pug, and maybe Virgo because of his longer fur.” If it’s your dog or you know whose dog it is, please e-mail: anamac247@yahoo.com
