White Center storefront deputy position is safe for another year, North Highline Unincorporated Area Council is told

Breaking news from the North Highline Unincorporated Area Council meeting under way right now – president Barbara Dobkin has read a letter just received from King County Executive Dow Constantine, committing to keep funding for the King County Sheriff’s Office White Center storefront deputy position in the 2014 budget. There had been concern the funding was in jeopardy, and Sheriff John Urquhart had asked the council to help with a show of support, so they launched an online petition, as first reported here last month. After Dobkin read the letter, the 20-plus people in the room applauded. More from the meeting a bit later.

  1. Huzzah! So glad to hear this!!

  2. Barbara Dobkin Says:

This is not the final word. The King County Council will start debating Dow Constantine’s budget recommendations in October. We still need to call, email, write, and continue to sign petitions to impress on the council the need for the storefront deputy. The council will also have several public hearings on the budget – dates to be decided.
