Update: Rollover crash on Olson/Myers hill to/from Highway 509

(Photos by Christopher Boffoli)
8:20 PM: Seattle Fire is sending a “heavy rescue” response to Myers Way/Olson Place, which is the busy intersection at the east end of Roxbury atop the hill from/to Highway 509. We have a crew on the way and will update when we find out more.

8:50 PM: Christopher Boffoli is there for White Center Now/West Seattle Blog and reports that three people were taken to the hospital with non-threatening injuries, “including an infant.” One car rolled over, he reports, and another appears to have been “clipped.”

  1. A “Heavy Rescue” response for a single car rollover accident? Uh, ok…

A Heavy Rescue response from Seattle Fire has the following:

Can you say overkill? A simple “Rescue Automobile” would’ve done the trick.

  2. Rollovers with the possibility of people being trapped are SOP Heavy Rescue calls for SFD, FYI. Some of the units were canceled fairly quickly but they don’t know what they have until they get there and it might be a matter of life or death. Same thing with house/structure fires – big callout, start canceling when you get there if it’s not warranted.
