King County Sheriff’s Office update on Ambaum apartment shootings
Some have asked about this case, since it happened just south of White Center – two teenagers shot last night. Turns out to have been a case of murder/attempted suicide – with two 16-year-olds involved. Here’s a news release just sent by KCSO:
King County Deputies responded to a double shooting last night at an apartment complex located at 12445 Ambaum Blvd SW [map]. When deputies arrived at 9.30 PM they found a juvenile male and a juvenile female both suffering gunshot wounds. The female later died from her wounds and the male is being treated in hospital for what appears to be a serious but non life threatening gunshot wound. At this time detectives are continuing their enquiries. The preliminary investigation indicates the juvenile male shot the female and likely shot himself; however, detectives have not had the opportunity to interview him. He is under police guard at hospital while the investigation continues.

FWIW, that hasn’t been announced by authorities, and the two citywide media stories I’ve seen (Times and KING) quote them as saying he had non-life-threatening injuries? Unfortunately I don’t have a contact at this hour to verify. What a horrific tragedy on so many levels. And a reminder of something not everyone realizes – or wants to believe – that domestic/relationship violence happens among teens as well as adults ….

Ok, after a mess of emails and texts, I have verified-through his mother-he is in stable condition. Apparently that was not always the case, and something a doctor said to one of the boy’s friends cause the rumor. I only posted it because my source is really close to him so I assumed it wasn’t just hearsay. Sorry. I am really relieved to be wrong!
