ROAD-WORK ALERT: 8th/102nd roundabout work starts soon
King County will start work next week on the next planned roundabout, 8th/102nd, and issued an alert today:
Construction of a roundabout requiring weekday lane restrictions. Work will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Tuesday, August 27 through Monday, October 21. Work outside the traveled way may occur 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Flaggers will guide traffic through the work zone with priority given to buses. Pedestrian access will be maintained and facilitated by flaggers. Expect delays.

When I spoke to county representatives at the open house they had a couple months ago, they said they have no plans to address the deteriorating pavement between the new roundabout and Greenbridge. So there will be about 100′ of smooth new pavement in each direction from the new roundabout. Then to the north there will be a couple hundred feet of failing roadway that constantly needs to be patched, and then the beautiful stretch of smooth roadway through Greenbridge.
That stretch of failing roadway has two bus lines on it. The county needs to find a way to replace that section too. It seems it would be more cost effective to replace it at the same time as roundabout construction.

Is this roundabout designed with buses in mind unlike the one at 8th and 108?

Will this one be as large as the one at SW 108th?
Pretty soon we will have NO bus service because
the “way to large” round-abouts restrict bus
and traffic.

Since I live next door to the old water district, any word on sidewalks with this roundabout? I can only imagine the flow of fast moving cars around it til 1 ends up hitting a person or in my yard. If it is small like the ones on 100th in greenbridge then cars barely slow down. Is the stop sign broken?
