MFG Cyclocross race to be held at White Center’s Lakewood Park, after permit revoked in West Seattle
Our partner site West Seattle Blog covered a controversy yesterday afternoon regarding a cyclocross bicycle race that was scheduled to be held in Lincoln Park this Saturday, till the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department abruptly pulled the permit, saying it had committed to the community years ago that the park would no longer host such races and that it shouldn’t have granted the permit in the first place. Promoters at MFG Cyclocross started working to find an alternate site – and they have just announced that Lakewood Park is the alternate site. We’ve also found additional details on the King County Parks news website.

It is unfortunate the 500 cyclist had to relocate to Lakewood Park actually it is Evergreen Athletic Fields. I can understand why the residents and Seattle Parks did not enjoy their presence.
Reviewing the damage the narrow bicycle tires created in the rain soaked soil and grass thet will take months to recover and parking their motor vehicles on the practice baseball fields. But who cares this is only White Center area. What was irraitating is their loud loud speaker systemm blaring across the neighborhood on an early Saturday morning. The announcers seemed to be mimicking a horse race caller except they did not seem stop to take a breath.

Niels Albert is the best cyclocrosser of the moment. I saw him ride in Overijse last weekend!
