More than 50 local artists will convene at the Seattle Design Center for the 10th Annual Art Under $100 Sale on Saturday, December 6, from 2-9 p.m. The beloved event continues to gather momentum, celebrating its tenth year in a spacious venue in Georgetown/SODO. For holiday shoppers, AU100 offers an unsurpassed opportunity to discover unique, affordable art while supporting local artists.

“It’s real art, and it’s really affordable– that’s what brings people back year after year,” said Raina Anderson, head of South Park Arts. Art Under $100 began in a residential garage in the South Park neighborhood. Wendy Woldenberg said, “We had about 100 people at our first sale. Each year it grows. Last year we hosted more than 1600 shoppers! People are drawn by the quality of the art, the opportunity to purchase it directly from the artists, and because it’s a party!”

So what exactly happens at the fun and festive event known as AU100?

~ Well, there’s art: Paintings, sculptures, neon, jewelry, textiles, photography, blown glass, cast glass, wood, encaustic, dioramas, woodblock printing, letterpress and more! And nothing priced over $100.

~ There’s art made by YOU: Create a handmade treasure with The Makery, a free art lab that runs on reclaimed materials and creativity–the perfect, kid-friendly, family fun activity.

~ And yes, even more art: The COCA gallery, also in the Seattle Design Center, will be open and free to the public. Composer Jovino Santos Neto and visual artist Michelle de la Vega will be on hand to present interconnected sculptural forms and sound installations that represent the complexities and strength of nearby communities, like South Park and the Duwamish River Valley area.

~ Plus there’s music: Vinyl spinning DJs provide a live soundtrack from above the show.

~ Food & drink: Kiss My Grits, Full Tilt Ice Cream, and 314 Pie food trucks will be on site. Beer and wine for the 21+ crowd and fine coffee from Fonte Coffee. Soft drinks, Seattle Chocolates, and Seattle Popcorn will also be available.

~ And there’s the infamous AU100 raffle: The Mysterious Bugle Boy and several surprise local celebrities will announce art raffle winners every 20 minutes. Winners pick their prizes from art donated by participating artists.

Take the free Art Shuttle from Loretta’s Northwesterner (8617 14th Ave. S) to AU100 at the Seattle Design Center (and back again), running the duration of the event, 2-9 pm.

Purchase the South Park Arts commemorative 10th Anniversary glow-in-the-dark t-shirt or drink cozie. Bring your friends and mingle. Find the perfect gift, and enjoy your holiday shopping. Don’t miss the AU100 party at SDC!
